Pit Crew

pit crew /a farmchick definition/ ~noun~ 1) a group of people in your life who arrive at unexpected moments to provide encouragement 2) those who bolster your spirits in times of trial 3) people who ease your way through life
Several days ago I ventured to our smalltownland farm store. In search of dog wormer, it was not a glamorous trip. Little did I know that a member of my pit crew was waiting to see me.

Ms. E and her family have been running this store for many a year. Ms. E is locally famous for her chocolate chip cookies and you may often find a tray on the counter for customers to enjoy. I asked for her help in locating my item and while talking she discussed my blog and photography.

She provided me with bits of encouragement, praise, and support in an unexpected moment. It did more for my day, and week, than I could say. She also gifted me with a book, written by a blogger, about defining things with just four words. And therefore, pointing me into a whole new direction of thought.

What about you? Do you have a pit crew for your life? Have you been gifted with those amazing people who provide you with words of encouragement when you need it. Or more importantly, when you think you don't?

I am grateful to say that my hubby is one of the most prominent in my pit crew. He encourages me to do what I love and live the life that I love when I need to hear it. :)

  3. Thank you so much for this. As you may know, I had a difficult year last year and my friends -- from now on I will think of them as my pit crew -- helped me so much. And so did you and all my other blogger friends. I think my pit is getting crowded, how great is that!

Oophs, did you say four words?--Inger

  4. I do like the blossoms. I think they are really nicer than most flowers and among those that I like the most are apple and cherry.

Here is a link to my 2nd movie. I am learning. I want to add sound but don't yet know how to do that.

  14. Farmchick, this is another special post, in a blog with frequent special posts. Mrs. E sounds wonderful. Yet, for her wonders to do their magic, you need to listen and be open, and it sure sounds like you are/were.

    Nice blossoms.

  19. Lovely blossoms! Ms. E sounds like an angel. Since moving here I can't say that I do have a Pit Crew. My best friend is in Phoenix, she would be my Crew Chief. My daily crew would be all the bloggers (including you) who stop by everyday and make my days just so much brighter. When I have a hard day I can always count on all of you to lift me up. Thank you for that.

  42. When facing any situation leaving me anxious, my dad will ask me, "What's the worst that can happen if it doesn't turn out the way you want it?" I can remind myself this but it sure helps hearing it from him to put things into perspective.

By the number of comments you struck a pleasant nerve with this post. :)

  43. Too often, so many friends and colleagues have a perception of us wrapped up neatly in a little box in their head. It is a special moment when one penetrates the surface of our usual expectations. Ms. E sounds like a tremendous character to have in your life.... as long as you don't eat too many of her chocolates !!

  44. what a fabulous post. really. and the photos fit it perfectly. I think this Ms. E sounds like a wonderful person to have on your crew, or as we say at my home in your corner. Will you share the name of the book with us? Sounds cool.

  47. Yes, I was given a "pit crew" at a gas station in a town I don't live, at a gas station when I didn't need gas but for some reason ended up there anyway, by people I'd never met - they gave me very specific instructions for the events that would be taking place in the near future while we lived through dealing with cancer - God sent them to us - our very special "pit crew".

  48. As I was reading I thought well alrighty then my blog buds are my pit crew! I can't think of a place where more sistah-hood and luv gets passed around. A whole lotta encouragement too. I also just might hafta put yer song list in there. You know you would be an outstanding disc jockey for a radio station. You compile really great old tunes and mix them with the ears of a master music lover. I absolutely LUV it!!!! ( that is in addition to your artful eye with photos)
I bet you like Taj Mahall too. Have you ever heard of Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks? Check out Milk Shakin Mama. It's funky and fun.
Your blog has grown a ton, I remember when you had just a handful of followers and now look at ya.
